F21 BEANIE
FP LADDER STITCH PULLOVER
FP HIGH RISE ROLLER SKINNY
JOHN FLUEVOG DEFENDER LACE UP BOOT

Woah, guys. Sorry for my m.i.a. status, but I had a whirlwind of a week last week and then spent this week recovering and am finally regrouped. more on this later.

I don't care who you are or what your style is, a beanie is an essential piece for anyone. This beanie i'm wearing is near and dear to me since my wonderful grandmother gave it to me for christmas last year. She told me that it reminded her of me and she had to get it for me because she knew I would enjoy it. How many people can say they have a grandmother who shops at Forever 21? She is one incredible woman inside and out.

The ladder stitch pullover was my go-to during village life in Chamonix, also for traveling on the airplane. It's big and comfortable, which is the perfect recipe for a travelwear, but its also lightweight so you don't overheat. I didn't even bother taking it off to sleep, and who doesn't love a little winter white in their lives?

Skinny jeans are the norm for me, these guys i'm wearing here are stretchy, but not so much so that they stretch out after you wear them too much. So I like 'em for that.

These boots are the shiz. I got them because I thought it was going to be snowing the entire week, and I needed a pair of weatherboots. Turns out no snow was in the forecast for the week, still glad to have them.

travel playlist

If you're anything like me, you can't travel without a good playlist intact because let's face it, the act of actual travel no matter who you're with or where you are going has it's lulls. Music becomes a way to zen out, pick you up when you're not feeling it or sing along to because nothing feels more right. I made this playlist with all those intentions in mind because every trip has it's roller coaster moments and i'm spending over seven hours on a plane y'all.

Here, friends. Enjoy

only the essentials

CLOCKWISE FROM TOP LEFT

CUSTOM IPHONE 5 BLACK LEATHER CASE & APPLE EAR BUDS This simple leather case is classy and matches everything. I'm not saying you should feel the need to coordinate your iPhone with your outfit, but i'm not saying that I don't either.

OKSAR BALLIN' PARIS BEANIE BY BRIAN LICHTENBERG I was lucky enough to get this guy in a Quarterly & Co. subscription by Fashion Director of Marie Claire's Nina Garcia. If you haven't heard of Q&C, you should definitely check it out. It's an expensive surprise, but it's worth it.

FP VENTURE PENDANT Even though most of this trip to Chamonix is to ski and apres ski, it's still necessary to dress up the comfiest sweaters while in the ski villa.

PASSPORT nuff said.

CLASSIC RAY BAN AVIATORS Let's not forget it's spring skiing, which hopefully means plenty of sun, and with any luck, a coveted goggle tan. And of course, these are necessary off the slopes.

FP SEAMLESS CROP Another reason why I love this crop is because while i'll be wearing many a heavy sweater and oversized flannel, it's nice to pair with a tight top like this so that you don't go full on tomboy, and just into the realm of ski bum chic. Is that a thing? Let's pretend it is.

CEREAL MAGAZINE I've been discovering more indie magazines lately since they have the luxury to function without excessive ads and with pure design, and this design is PHENOMENAL. Needless to say, I recommend it.

Morning intentions

My favorite part about the warmer months is having the sun come through my window past my lace shades and wake me up in the morning while casting beautiful shadows. There is no way to wake me that is more gentle, and makes me excited for the day to come. After a particularly long week I woke up well rested and refreshed. It also helps that I woke up in a french ski villa.

On days like this though, where I wake up peacefully and ready for the day with time to center myself, I am reminded to look back on my practice in yoga where at the beginning of every class your yogi tells you to think of your intention for the session or the day. Instead of thinking what had brought me to that class today, I gather what has motivated me to this point in my life where I am today. I acknowledge what is difficult or unresolved in life while setting my intention of the day or the week or the month to fix that which brings me unhappiness and focus on what makes me smile instead. Feed on that, embrace it, and use it to bring further positivity and lighten those darker areas of your life.

NAMASTE friends.

FP HIGH NECK SEAMLESS CROP
FP VENTURE PENDANT

Daylight savings has truly brought spring on. The winter seemed to melt away overnight, and although weather is fickle in the northeast, I'm hoping that this will stick. So bring on the crop top.

This seamless crop is perfect to match with high waisted pants or a skirt, I think the perfect amount of midriff to show off is about an inch below your band line and right above your belly button, it's sexy but not inappropriate and the most flattering part of the torso.

The necklace I'm wearing here is great because it has black string, so if you are wearing black pants and a light shirt, it's the perfect way to tie the outfit all together!

've become a hug fan of this whole hair in the face thing that goes on a lot in my photos, my hair kind of has a mind of its own, so it seems appropriate.

this thursday must be properly thrown back

#tbt

Nowadays, life seems to be composed of little pictures, captured by the simple lift of the iphone and then immediately stored into that digital archive. In some ways, this digital age has expanded the knowledge and appreciation of photography, and in others, the quantity of images which we are able to take has made the most special and sentimental photos become lost among the rest.

And that's what pictures are for, isn't it?
We look back on that snapshot in time and we recall the way we felt, the day that encompassed that moment, and the people or places within the frame. I myself, am a huge fan of the Throwback Thursday that trends on IG, where we are encouraged to stop what we're doing and look back to those moments in the past that we hold on to and cherish.

So friends, let's find those moments, those photographs that we find particularly near and dear to our hearts and let's highlight them. Let's print them...yes I said it. I know that everything belongs to The Cloud currently, but the sensation of having a physical picture, that's something that's unbeatable.

My favorite way to print these out is using the Instax printer which you can connect to straight from your phone and on to these Polaroids. I've also seen great things done with InstaThis, where you can print on metal or wood. Or, if you're pressed for money, just run down to your local photo center and have it 'developed' or hey, even just go to a staples and print and cut on your every paper.

Make every moment count!

Sweet, man.

ROSEMARY BRIE ROASTED FIG AND SWEET POTATO CROSTINI

I've been craving figs lately, something about their sweetness that pairs perfectly with the savory so well draws me in. I'm a huge fan of maple-honey flavor and all things sweet potatoes so I decided to pair these all together in what I suggest using as a Crostini because of it's sweetness.

Here's what you'll need-
FIGS
SWEET POTATO
ROSEMARY
BRIE GOAT CHEESE
MAPLE SYRUP
HONEY

Start by cutting off the stems of the figs, then cutting them into quarter pieces from top to bottom. Next, cut up the sweet potato into small square pieces so that they cook through at the same rate as the figs. You can use one regular sized sweet potato to a container of figs. Next, mix in a bowl the maple syrup, honey and rosemary in a mixing bowl with even amounts of maple syrup and honey. (I'd say a half cup of both would do) Add one stem of rosemary to the mix. Lay down the figs and sweet potato pieces on a baking pan (I cooked my figs facing up). Pour this mixture over, making sure that it is distributed evenly on top of the pieces. Bake at 400 for 20 minutes, flipping over the sweet potatoes halfway through.

Since this recipe is extremely sugary, I suggest serving as a dessert with some brie goat cheese spread melted in to add some bitterness. My favorite way to eat this dish is as a crostini on top of a piece of thickly sliced baguette bread and a layer of brie goat cheese spread.
