pillow talk.

DOWN PILLOWS, Y'ALL

This year when I moved into my new place, I decided I was going to grow up in the apartment therapy kind of way. I invested in new furniture for a bigger space, organizational products that were also attractive and most importantly, I invested in brand new bedding.

I looked back on all the years i've been out of college and thought- i haven't bought anything new since I left my house. In fact, I brought most of the things I had from my parent's abode. So, I decided to slowly flip my bed into the cloudlike mecca that it is now. New duvet and comforter, new foam mattress topper and brand new sleeping pillows and decorative pillows. I was actually excited for all this new stuff, and it wasn't even clothes! Is this what adulting feels like?

As i've gotten older, i'm discovering more and more how important (and sometimes difficult) a good nights sleep is. When I was in college, I slept around my study schedule, mastering the art of the nap and sometimes not sleeping at all, and somehow I made it out alive. But now that i'm on that 10-6 schedule, i've learned that although it's possible to get through a day without an 8-count of hours slept, it's not necessarily the best for your body, and recharging isn't only for your iPhone.

My doctor told me that coffee is the worst thing to do before an appointment because it raises your heart rate, so it got me thinking that it's probably best in smaller doses. I definitely enjoy the occasional Flat White to get me going in the morning, but getting all that sleep in is always the better alternative healthwise. Besides, it keeps those dollar bills in your pocket.
